I would consider rephrasing the first sentence by swapping "at one point in the year" for "at least once during the year" or "sometime during the year". As it stands, it makes it sound like you're saying people only celebrate one holiday a year (or at least, only one that is special).

It's all right but it needs work keep digging waaaay into the theme your writing an essay about. Think about it for a day or a while to just find out how to really get the main idea. Keep going that is a great start!

Do you mean "how does my essay sound"? Since I can't hear it, I can't tell how it 'sounds', but by reading it, I think it is good. However, it should be longer. You could make it longer by writing about your favorite holiday and why it is special for you. This would give your essay a bit of personality. Plus, teachers always give better grades to essays that are somewhat philosophical as well as informative.

Sounds great but instead of Halloween I would use Birthday. that is used in alot of countrys and by alot more people :)
