At the bottom rightside of your Start bar, right-click on the little computer icon with the wireless waves / signals and select "View Available Wireless Networks". You should see the name (SSID) of your wireless network which you can then select followed by clicking on Connect. If you don't have any security set, you will just connect. If you do have it secured, you will be prompted for the password / key.

If you don't remember the key, you will need to log into your wireless router and find the key you set / selected. If you don't remember the address of your router, get to another computer that has a working internet connection and go to Start, Run and type in "cmd", without quotes, and hit enter. Then type "ipconfig" and enter. The Default Gateway address should be the address of your router, so note it. Type exit and enter to close the cmd window. Then, in a web-browser, type in that address and hit enter. This should bring you to a login for your router for which you will need to enter your userid and password. Once you are in the router, look for a section like "Wireless Security" to find the Encryption (WEP, WPA) key and copy it down as this is what you need for your laptop.

If you have windows XP, just click on help and type wireless home network. and start reading. You will find there at least the basics you need to know before doing anything. You can do the same by going to Yahoo or Google search.

If I was a republican, I would probably give you more detail information but fortunately, I am a democrat. ( :

Good luck
