Women during world war two who joined the Army were called Wacs for Women's Army Corps. They were always portrayed as a bit psychotic in the popular culture of the time. Especially in the old Warner Brothers Cartoons.

"Rosie the Riviter" was a character from a popular advertisment during the war. Similar to "Uncle Sam", this was not the name of the positions. As far as I know, they didn't specifically have a name. They simply replaced men in the war efforts.
