I have them all the time in my sleep. I have no idea when I go to bed at night that Im going to leave my body. I think if you probably focus on wanting to stay in your body, then im guessing they can be controlled that way. As for why they happen, Im not sure on that. All of my experiences, which are too numerous to list have been pleasant ones.

first you fall thru a grey demension. Then you become concious above your body. If you look in a mirror you will see another side of you superimposed on the closest side you are looking at. You'll begin to sink through the floor, until you will yourself up. You can walk through walls, but the experience wiil stop abruptly without you able to fully control how long it will last. Sometimes the experience will come in clusters, and then never rehappen. No one will believe you if you have had one but you will know this, your mind is independent of your human body and there is no change in your character or personality.

Sit or lay in a relaxed position with eyes closed until in a semi-sleeping state. Focus on a point about six feet above your head, then repeatedly bring your focus back into your body through your forehead. Imagine pulling vibrations from this point. Then, you should enter a vibrational state in which your body will violently shake. Move these vibrations up and down your body. Then think about floating upward.

An out of body experience is not actually what most people think it is. What you are actually 'seeing' is more like a dream. When going into sleep induced by shock or medicine, you may not be totally asleep, and you 'remember' what happened during the experience.

i honest don't think you should pursue these experiences because you don't know what they do to your mind and body. Also you don't want to be leaving your body unattended. Some other spirit may take posession of your body.
As to how to control it, it's all to do with the mind. If you enjoy and are interested in these experiences, you get them often. If you don't really care about them and are not affect, you'll get them less and less.

Out of body experiences or Ooeb' most usually happen when someone dies from anytime from death till they are revived. I have had two out of body experiences due to near death accidents. Now there is something else called astral projection which is sort of being out of body. good luck.

The only time I have ever had this happen was from lsd. It's a hallucination where you can feel your body floating above your real body. It is very scary at first and then it becomes rather fun:)

They can't be controlled in an experiment, and as a result, they are out of science's league.

These are probably idiosyncratic phenomena, not real. Electrical stimulation of brain cells, in a certain area, can produce an OBE.
