To make a decimal a percent, multiply by 100
ex. .45 = 45%
To make a decimal a fraction, put it over it's place and simplify
.45 = 45/100 = 9/20
The places are (after decimal point)
.(tenths) (hundredths) (thousandths) (ten-thousandths)
and it keeps going
To make a fraction a percent, you have to use proportions
9/ 20 = x/100
cross multiply & you've got it
20x = 900
x=45

The fraction is simple: whatever the decimal is, you put over 100 or however many places you have. Then reduce the fraction if you need to.
So if you have 0.25 (twenty-five hundredths), that's the same as 25/100. Reduce the fraction by dividing top and bottom by 100, so you have 1/4.
If you have 0.8 (eight tenths), the fraction is 8/10 (it's over ten because the last digit in the decimal goes into the tenths). Divide both top and bottom by 2, and get 4/5.
To turn fractions into percents, multiply by 100 (no matter what place the decimal goes into). So .25 expressed as a percentage is .25 * 100 = 25% (you move the decimal to the right two spots). If you had .08, the percentage is 8%.
Does that make sense?

she is right - a good tip to help you remeber is using a percent/ decimal/ or fraction you ALREADY KNOw...like 50%
EXAMPLE: .5 = 50% = 50/100 which can be reduced to 1/2...and (1/2) = .5
All of those are the SAME THING, so if you get a problem like...
make .02 into a fraction then you think about a question you know and work it out the same way -
.02 (move the decimal two places to the left) = 2%
2% = 2/100
2/100 is a fraction that can be reduced to 1/20
and if you divide 1/20 you will get = .02
It's all just a big circle of math.

Math math..yes some think its tough subject but actually its not true..
you can change decimal by dividing the number by no 0f tens
example- if you have 0.25 you can divide it by 100 as decimal is in hundred place mean 25/100 and result will come in fraction = 1/4)( 0.3 by 3/10). and in same way for percent you can multiply (25 x 100/100 result is 25%.
and for math best advise is practice as much you can whether you know that problem well or not.
while solving math problem don't try to get answer if you are in confusion leave it as just, your process should be correct up to where you have left you will get at lest half of the total marks but if have done in right process but final result is incorrect than you get grade d so be careful next time...
actually I'm also d grade student in math so i have better experience ha ..ha..

Say you have the decimal .50, in fractions this would be 50/100's. When you learned to add, remember your 1, 10, 100, 1000, 10,000. Another example would be .25 or 25/100's or 1/4. These are the even ones so they are easier. I had so much trouble with this and believe me, I understand the confusion. I hope this is a little bit helpful. Good luck!

okay lets take an easy one okay?
like 50% of 100. is 1/2 you put the % over 100: 50/100
.5 or .50 or .500 is 1/2 because you put 5/10 50/100 500/1000
.25 is 1/4 because it's 25/100 when 25 is devided into 100 it = 4
IM me if you need more help-- i fall sleep doing math in my head!
The rules of math are just that rules, and they don't change, it seems hard at first-- it's like learning a different language.
You are not alone.
Good Luck and feel free to IM me, or leave off line IM and I'll get back to you.

if u have a calculator available just move the decimal over two places to the left of the decimal and thats your percent!
ummm fractions puzzle me too...you can put the percentage over 100...find common factors and make it as small as possible
