Not temporarily, as in a trailer house, dorm, crisis shelter or FEMA trailer, I mean as a lifestyle choice. Like an eco home, a micro home, a cabin, a yurt, a planned community, a co-house, etc.

While a lot of the world is getting more complicated, there seems to be a wave of simplicity among some folks who are abandoning their ideals of a dream house, and finding smaller, or low-tech living arrangements that are working quite well for them. I would love to know more about it, just curious at this point but I am far from claustophobic, in fact, I consider myself very hobbity, and can easily see myself doing something like this someday.

What's your story? Why did you do it? How is it working for you? Would you do it again? Are you on the grid or off? How do you live this way in a modern world?

It will be hard to choose a best answer from different genuine responses.

In Vermont... its quite common, I knew a man who sectioned off part of a barn he rented for $200 a month and lived there with his horses. Tree houses are really forsale in someplaces and I knew a couple who had a yurt. They all enjoyed it very much. I knew another woman there who tunred a pole barn into a house, but lived in a T.P. while she did it (you can get a kit and builed one of canvas) 20 years ago some of the land was... shared, like... community land. Lots of families built very different styles of homes there.
They all chose to live that way, and like I said, enjoyed it. West Minister and Putney VT
