I'm not a truck driver, but my father is. I have gone with him on holiday's quite often, so I do know what it is like to drive for hours on end.

First off, North America is a beautiful place. From the Rocky Mountains to the Prairies it is just wonderful. So (I don't know about all truckers), my father takes alot of pictures, brings them home and shows his family, talking about his trip as he went.

Second off, he has many friends who are also truckers, and they know where each other is going to be. In many trips he meets up with his friends and they stop and have a meal or a coffee with each other before going their seperate ways.

Third he talks on the phone alot. He phones his 2 year old nephew and chats with him, as well as his other family memebers and friends.

Forth he listens to Sirus Radio which is satalite radio with more than 100 channels

Fithe he listens to Book's on CD's. This is actually a big job for my mom and I because we are always on the look out for books he will like, and then getting them ready for him to take. My mom does it mostly but I help.

nope, just look out the window and see the pretty country side.
and whenever i drive in the city, i hardly have the time to get bored, too much traffic, too many cars that cut you off.

but when i am on the open road, there is mostly another trucker around, we talk on the radio a little bit, listen to the stereo...

and i admitt, there is always the cell phone, people like to receive msgs, talk on the phone...

and once you park for the night or fuel or whatever, you go and eat, watch tv, discuss politics, trucks with other drivers... some drivers go and play in the casinos, watch tv in their trucks, read and just relax...

and yes, sometimes there is alot of pressure, because people want their loads asap, so you are in such a big hurry that you don't have the time to get bored.

and, thanks for noticing

Aren't you bored sitting in the same place everyday, looking at the same things everyday? You can take a man out of trucking, but you can't take trucking out of man. I've driven about 35 years, and over 2 million miles, and to this day I would rather do that, than sit in one spot all day, every day. I've seen a lot of this great country of ours, and I got paid to do it.
