Sweetie, I am 51 yrs. old and about a year ago decide to get "A" tattoo. It had to be special, proper, something my kids and grandkids wouldn't freek out over when they saw it. SO, I got online, knew a little about what I wanted and did some research. found what I wanted and got it. Be discrete, make it a small one that not "everyone" can see. 2 months later, ask yourself if you still think it's cool. go from there. Two days after i got mine, I thought, "what the hell did you do"? 2 weeks later I thought, "ok, this is good". Have nothing but good comments since. Do what YOU think is right and know that it is perminent. When you're 105 yrs. old you'll still have it. Tasteful, artistic, and something YOU like. that's all that matters. Look at WW2 history, his unit, what he did and decide. a little plane, WW2, his name inside a plane, ask for help. If he is still alive ask him what he thinks is cool. don't rush into this until YOU are satisfied it is what you want. Good luck. Mine says (in chineese) " No wind, No waves". It's just for me, don't care if anyone else understands.

I would look up symbols on military sites and see what symbol that had when he was in the army and see if you like something there, or maybe he gave you a jacket or a picture that you can see a symbol in that you like. Maybe get his rank tattooed on with some good lettering of his initials or name inside or something. Or try thinking of combining an American flag with the army air symbol or something.
But what ever you decide - don't rush into getting your tattoo. Before I got might I drew it on everyday for like a month to make sure I liked the placement - colors etc. Remember it wont ever go away :)

I think if you want 1 that is in memory of your grandpa then you should get the Army Air Corps LOGO and have in memory of The your Grandpa's Name.
