No need to stand and watch it. Timer will let me know when it's ready.

A micro wave is not "radioactive". That term pertains to items using atomic energy. A microwave oven uses Radio Frequency or RF energy. The ovens are shielded so they're safe. However if the door seals become defective some energy could leak. So it isn't a good idea to stand close for an extended time.

Normaly, I don't sit in front of a microwavve staring at my food. If I had all that time I would cook it instead. The main reason why I heat my food in the microvawe instead of using a pot is so that I can save time so that I can do OOther things!

Funny you ask that....im paranoid about potential radio waves getting out of the microwave...so I walk away and come back later.....it's cause I have a new baby in my arms all the time...i think that's the reason....
Anyway...im a freak, I admit it.

It's not radioactive and I stopped doing that in, like, 1977.
