I'm thinking of semi retirement to the Philipines and continuing to work as an Artist, music composer/teacher and Remedial massage therapist. I'm interested to know if foreign skills and knowledge, art and music is welcome in the Philipines.

I think you will find the Philippines to be a very hospitable. You do need to look at immigration requirements carefully though, this may be a good place to start: http://www.philippineembassy-usa.org/ . I know that there's a strong effort to attract retirees to the country, but I don't know if the retirement visa allows you to work.

I believe there are lots of people who will welcome your skills, knowledge, and artistic perspective, but the culture there is pretty different. I recommend checking out the book "Culture Shock! (Philippines)" by Alfredo and Grace Roces. Also, it helps a lot if you have some family or friends in the Philippines to help you figure out the best areas to live and work in, it's a pretty diverse country and not all of it is safe.
