As long as people give up their liberties (ex. PATRIOT ACT) and give up with the democratic system ,which we DO live in, by not participating in it (last years Congressional elections only saw 60 million votes. This is out of 280 million pop.) then yes, it will go down the tubes. Although US government seems to be lost in the bowels of scandal, corporate control, and ideological fear mongering, US citizens still have a voice through activism and common rights as citizens. Once these voices cease to shout and all of our rights are handed to those who would love it if you'd just stop voting (as the case seems to be), then I'd start worrying. But a little worrying never hurt anyone. Early reminder: Don't forget to vote in 2008 and remember that there are more than two candidates running. Research and explore ALL of your options before any vote you make. Don't let a two party system sucker you into voting for a loser, or worse, not voting at all.

It's just you & the left-wing radicals. The U.S. under Clinton was not up to the standards we're at now-yet , if a liberal was in office under same conditions as now- this would be called great .
Liberals will run this country down as though there were no tomorrow , in hopes of winning an election . They have no platform-but to run down the U.S. & criticise our nation , our President , our way of life , our troops ; you name it . Former presidential candidate John Kerry is in Europe bad mouthing the U.S. While our troops dodge bullets , John Kerry gives comfort to the enemy who listen everytime Kerry ; Clinton ; Kennedy & the rest of those creeps insult our nation . They are messed up .

America is a democratic country having free right of expression. Its people are highly diversified. What you see or feel is the beauty of the system. One of my friend has rightly observed that so long people and Government respect constitution it will remain strong and correct itself of any wrong doing. Serve your country to the best of your ability.

It is messed up but it will get better. The youth now are being prepared, unwittingly, to face the coming global crisis. This will cause them to pull together in a united effort and, I hope, prevail. The only problem then will be that they will think they can do anything! Life will be great for a while.

In my opinion, America, or specifically, the United States, is no more messed up than its ever been and is no more mess up than other countries in the world. I also don't think that anarchy would help matter to any great extent.

And I will fight for your right to be anarchist. That's American. What the people want. It is not what the neoconservatives say we should do. Don't confuse America with Republican. Republicans want to take peoples right to do what they want away.
The American people were angry after 9/11. The Bush Administration left us confused. What it takes is the American people to focus on the true problem. Sometimes we have to fight together and that is when we shine.

I agree even though i dont live there, i have an inlaw who is american and trust that what they tell me is true and not exaggerated. However, even though i love my country, i cant help but feel afraid of our prime minister being so 'friendly' with the US president. I cant wait til he is voted off and fizzled out. GO KIM BEASLY!!!
Yes America has long since gone down the gurgler

Its you. For as long as this country has existed, someone has felt the way you do. The country is still here. As long as the government and citizens abide by the Constitution, the country will be all right. It might be slow correcting its mistakes but they will be corrected.

I agree with you.
My Grandma is wise, 84, and usually very good natured. Let's just say she's seen a lot.
The other day, she said: "This country sure isn't what it used to be."
Granted, that's just her opinion, but personally, I'll take her word for it. The US MUST have been better in the past, or we would have destroyed ourselves already.
All things must pass.

As the economy rises, so do prices and the need to make money to live comfortably. That sucks, but is the way it is.

Yeah, America is screwed up, but we did it to ourselves. Not many places are better and it they are, would you want to live there?
