I have noticed that all over the Middle East there are "McDonalds" fast food restaurants, but they dont seem to have any in Iran and Yemen, considering that Iran is supposed to be a rich country. Can someone please explain why?

Oh yes good point. Iran really needs McDonalds. There is a chain and Persian people call it as McDonalds, but it is not different from the burger on the corner shop.
On the other hand it has nothing to do with religion. I am from Istanbul, Turkiye and we have Mc everywhere.
Mc is and American brand and none of those countries are eager to build a relationship.

At first I should tell you that in muslim countries people do not eat every kind of meat. for example eating pork and meat of many animals are prohibited by Islam. And some thing else is that an animal for example a sheep should be killed in a special way, otherwise religon does not it's followers to eat from that. May be McDonald's way of preparing food is not fully compliant to these rules.
Another reason can be the problem between the government and owners of the company. for instance if a zionist own some of the company's share, the company can't work in Iran.

WHY SHOULD THEY HAVE A McDonalds anyway??

What has it got to do with them being reach or poor..
There are many resturants there that have quality that is much better than this Macdo. thing, in the country where I live there is almost a Macdo. resturant in each territory, because of the financial boycott , I have not been to any since a year.. and guess what ...........I AM STILL ALIVE

None of the previous answers is so correct as mine. hey, I'm not kidding! The main reason that we don't have McDonalds in Iran is because of it's relationship to those israelis. Many of the masters of McDonald are Israeli.
