approximately 400-700 nanometer wavelengths; the ROYGBIV acronym is but an approximation. Every shade is there in the spectrum betweeen these wavelengths...red being at the higher end and violet at the lower end...there is so much fascinating information on the realm of visible light in the electromagnetic spectrum. The cool thing is that you can keep going in the up or down direction and find so many other types of radiation. Go up in t wavelength and you have radio waves, microwaves, infrared, etc.; Go down and you have ultraviolet, X-rays, cosmic rays, gamma rays....
P.S. Just so I fulfill the criteria of the assignment: Red-Orange-Yellow-Green-Blue-Indigo-Violet -Cheers!

I've always felt that indigo was an impostor. After all, there are three primary colors: red, blue and yellow; and three secondary colors: violet, green and orange. So how come come indigo gets included? Why not yellow/orange or blue/green, etc?

A couple people hinted on it, but indigo has actually been removed from the rainbow. Now it's only ROYGBV.
