For starters, the fact that both Germans and Americans are using Yahoo Answers should give you an idea how many things the two countries have in common.
What else? McDonald's everywhere you go, Elvis Presley Fans, Harley Davisons, MTV, Who Wants To Be A Millionaire among a variety of other Copy Cat TV shows and Films. In Germany there was a soap opera TV Show called 'Verliebt im Berlin' while the US version is called 'Ugly Betty'(I Think?), and then there are the talk shows, all styles; Jay Leno and Stefan Raab for example.
Both countries are dealing with the problem of jobs going to countries with cheaper work forces.
Since America is a bigger country landwise than Germany you can not say there are alike. But, I am from New England and many parts of Germany are like US North East.
It would be nice if the US were more concerned and doing something about the environment like Germany and the rest of Europe(extensive recycling, wind&solar power, good public transportation, smaller fuel efficent cars to give just a few examples).

About 17% of Americans are of German heritage. In fact, German is commonly spoken in many towns and villages in Pennsylvania and Indiana. Many famous Americans where born in Germany. Many Germans came to America in the 1700's and fought for the colonies in the Revolutionary War.

They are both Federal Republics, but in Germany the President has very limited powers and carries more weight at a moral level.

Absolutely. They love beer and sports. They speak English for the most part. And the majority of the Public can't stand Bush. What a great country!!!!!! : )

If you're talking about midwest then it's the weather. Similar grey days and cold, cold, cold!
If you're comparing to NY, then it's the excellent public transportation.
Oh, the famers and bauern are the same.

yes, a lot actually
I moved here 6 years ago from Germany, because culture and lifestyle are very similar (I wouldn't have dared moving to China)
the difference is that you have more freedom, less bureaucracy and lower taxes here - I like it

much already said, but
on the better side:
- people from various heritage, race and religion
- wild large sport events (even though different sports)
on the worse side:
- media that brainwashes people
- casting shows
- greasy food
- stereotypes

Berlin is made from American money....... I go to an American school here and my friends dad works for the embassy and he controls weapons trade between america and germany. The media and entertainment here, like the rest of the world, is american. I dunno. America kinda dominates the "stuff" industry here. lol. Oh yeah. less freedom here and more anti war. Material based lifestyles too though.

We have military bases there, the people generally like Americans and vice versa, and they both love Michael Hasselhoff.
