If I don't get my way (sensibly) and someone rejects me, I go nuts. Is this something from my childhood? Why do I fear rejection so much?

It sounds like you have an insecurity thing. Like you want everyone to like you, do things for you etc. And it quite possibly does come from your child hood. You may have been rejected by your parents, maybe not right out, but in a more concious sort of way... or they may have given you everything you want, so now you don't know how to react to not getting what you want. Only you will really know what lies with in you. Reflect back on your life, and try to dig to the root of the problem, if you want to fix it.

Read the book the Four Agreements-by Don Miguel Ruiz- It will change your life and you will end this suffering of taking things personally. When one judges us or says something negative about us it is all their stuff and has nothing to do with us. Also it is due to bodily identification (false ego) we are not this body, mind, intellect, job, race, color, nationality etc. We are eternal spirit Souls, Part and Parcel of the Supreme Soul, also Known as Krishna, Allah, Jehovah, Vishnu etc. We have to reconnect to be free of our false ego completely. go to harekrishnatemple.c for details Read Bhagavad Gita as it is by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada- gives the purpose of human life and how to transcend all misery.

Yes, so go get some counseling before you make a mess of your life. I hope you get a great counselor. I have 20+ years as a mental health practitioner, now retired, so I'm sure of this issue as you present it. God Bless you.

I do believe it is, maybe a form of being rejected so much and you are trying to hard to get accepted. Maybe just be yourself and try to enjoy life as it is, and work on your self esteem.
