use terro ant killer, available at walmart,home depot , lowes, etc. also you might want to put down some home defense max by ortho, its works good by preventing the ants as well

Ants will only come indoors if there is food or water.
Look around for water leaks or that half-eaten twinkie that fell between the fridge and cabinet.
I fight them constantly.
I'm talking about my kids who leave crumbs that bring the ants into the house.

My neighbor gave me this one and it works great!!!
Borax soap and sugar. Spread it around the home or area. Make sure no pets can get to it. We redo it every year in the spring and never have ant problems again.

We use Baking Soda for our ants! It supposedly gives them gas and they are unable to burp so it explodes their stomachs. I don't know if it is true or not, but the baking soda works for us, and is safe with my crawling baby! Good enough for me, and no stinky smell of poison!!!
