In general, do you think its better to pursue a romantic relationship before you are on the right path career-wise, or is it better to have a significant other while you are chasing your career dreams?

Career first. It's very hard to pursue your own goals after signifigant other, marriage and especially children. VERY HARD. Not impossible but a lot more WORK.

A supportive and non controlling or manipulative other is the BEST and if you have the a really supportive partner, he or she will be an asset to you while you secure your career.

The key is to pick the right person! Good Luck!

I dont think it matters what comes first, would you wait for the right person before chasing your dreams (career-wise?) You could be waiting a long time for either.

I think it depends on your aspirations... if you're wanting to insure sucess with money etc. go with the career first, but if you're wanting to the family route, with careers that form around your family and marriage, get married and first figure out which careers would best suit your situation. If family is important, and time consuming career might not be the best choice. good luck.

Whatever works for you. Your choice. It's not a matter of when you do both, but how you handle both. Frankly, relationships on a whole is a lot of work so you might want to take that into consideration for your career moves.

I would say, get a good education and then work on that Career first. When you are both Finacially stable, and feel the feelings are right for you both, then marriage could follow.

I think it works either way. It's completly up to the individual and how they want to live their life.

Myself, I would like to have a relationship while persuing a career.
