I heard the other day that 57% of marriages don't last. I was just wondering what everyone thinks about it and share personal experiences you might have.

The cost of living, sexual revolution, too much freedom...I think all of these things as well as others have contributed to the high divorce rates. Women are no longer able to stay at home and raise their children without having to worry about money. The husband is frustrated because as hard as he tries he is unable to be the breadwinner. The temptations of sex all around us lures men away because let's face it...men are visual creatures and they are tempted very easily. People no longer have morals and values anymore when it comes to being married.

I work with a woman from India and another woman from Vietnam. I am Black and asked them how their marriages are different from people here in the U.S. I was shocked to learn both of them had arranged marriages. Everything was done by their parents. The Indian woman told me she had never met her husband until two days before they got married. She told me they consider marriage sacred and they don't believe in divorce and that's why their marriages make it and ours in America don't.

thats about correct.

It can be contrasted with an annulment, which is a declaration that a marriage is void, though the effects of marriage may be recognized in such unions, such as spousal support or Alimony, child custody, child support, and distribution of property.

In many developed countries, divorce rates increased markedly during the twentieth century. Among the states in which divorce has become commonplace are the United States, South Korea, and members of the European Union, with the exception of Malta (where all civil marriages are for life, because civil divorce is banned). In the USA, Canada, the United Kingdom, and some other developed Commonwealth countries, this divorce boom developed in the last half of the twentieth century. In addition, acceptance of the single-parent family has resulted in many women deciding to have children outside marriage, as there is little remaining social stigma attached to unwed mothers in some societies. Japan retains a markedly lower divorce rate, though it has increased in recent years. The subject of divorce as a social phenomenon is an important research topic in sociology.

A divorce must be certified by a court of law, as a legal action is needed to dissolve the prior legal act of marriage. The terms of the divorce are also determined by the court, though they may take into account prenuptial agreements, or simply ratify terms that the spouses have agreed on privately. Often, however, the spouses disagree about the terms of the divorce, which can lead to stressful (and expensive) litigation. A less adversarial approach to divorce settlements has emerged in recent years, known as mediation, an attempt to negotiate mutually acceptable resolution to conflicts.

It's because people don't take it seriously anymore. As one mother in law told her son's wife after they argued "I'm his mother, you're just his first wife."

Another huge factor is family court. It is so biased that it provides an incentive to break familiies up. Why not? She gets all the goodies and the kids while he gets stuck with all the bills. I

People are too lazy to work on their marriages. Why would you have to do anything if you're always right? Stupid. Women are the ones that think that everything is about them and they shouldn't have to be submissive to their husbands. They think they are too good to do things for their husbands, kids, and home. It's ridiculous. Women treat their husbands like total sh*t and think that they should be treated with respect in return. It's a bunch of BS if you ask me. Thanks to all your liberals and feminazi's for ruining the sacred marriages.
