she needs to serve time, just like any other person would. she won't though, because she is still somewhat famous. it's a shame, because if her careless driving, there are some little kids without their mother. oh well, at least she released a statement! that changes EVERYTHING, now doesn't it? if someone killed my mother in a car accident, but apologized, it wouldn't make a damn bit of difference. makes me sick. celebrities.

She should be sued AND she should be charged for involuntary manslaughter. One is a civil proceeding. One is a criminal proceeding. She needs to deal with both. You can't just run into the back of somebody's car stopped in traffic and kill them. You have to be aware and know what you're doing when you're driving so you don't end up taking an innocent life. If you do take an innocent life, then that's involuntary manslaughter. As for a civil suit. If someone just comes out of nowhere and slams into the back of your car and kills you, then your family have the right to be compensated for losing you. So she must pay for that as well. And if it's proven she was 'neglegent' in any way (such as talking on a cell phone) then she'll have to pay 'punative damages' which could run into the millions. Life for her would be so much easier had she just been paying attention to her driving that day. It's very sad.

I am with you on that question because from the information that the public has been given, I don't hear anything that makes her story different than many people who end up in this heartbreaking situation. I am wondering if her celebrity status is what has her being charged with vehicular manslaughter. Please if someone has a better grasp of the law in terms of car accidents refresh us all. I can't imagine what it feels like to be Brandy right now. This is one of my biggest fears...and one of the reasons I hate driving, and for her to be facing a year in prison seems highly outrageous. She is a mom and a positive role model to many...the whole thing kind of upsets me.
Am I missing something...all these people saying she should be held accountable for her actions like anyone else is throwing me off. I have heard of many horrible car accidents, but never of anyone going to jail or being charged with vehicular manslaughter unless it was a DWI or something criminal. Even then....it doesn't happen easily. Two years ago a young girl on my street accidently ran a red light and caused an accident in which her sister died. She was given a ticket for running the red light...which they later arranged to do away with because of the grief she was dealing with. All these people on here think that poor girl should have been charged and served a year in prison....you all are kidding me!
And I see my answer is really out of the norm here. One...I couldn't imagine being responsible for the death of someone...particularly someones parent...esspecially as a parent. Two...I couldn't imagine having to deal with that in the public eye. Three...I couldn't imagine the idea of dealing with being charged with a crime and serving time for something that is already haunting me...which it would be. I can't see Brandy feeling much different. I can't see anyone feeling much different.

hell yeah and more... she OUGHT TO go to jail for 2 reasons 1. she was driving too fast for conditions causing and resulting in an accident with fatalities, 2. she failed to adjust her speed accordingly to AVOID the accident she TOTALLY PLOWED right in to the back of the woman's Honda at 65 MPH WITH A LAND ROVER, pushing the Honda into the path of an oncoming car that broadsided the Honda... what the hell was she thinking? did she FORGET THERE WAS A BRAKE PEDAL?), and she was probably on a cell phone too. Watch for.... Moesha in the Big House... coming soon to a cellphone , I mean cell block near you.. i hope

personally i think that they will settle out of court and brandy will just pay out a settlement.. but personally i wasnt there, i dont know exactly what was distracting her causing her to not avoid the accident. but suing for someone's death i think is desperation for money.. if it was for medical bills i could understand more or even funeral costs.. but people sue anybody these days for anything.

She may be rich and famous, but she is human. She is no different and should not be treated any different. If you get behind the wheel and end up killing someone, they would have your booty under the jail. So she needs to get the same punishment.
So yea, sue her and hold her accountable for vehicular manslaughter! It is only fair.

YES! She should pay dearly for ending that life. Unfortunately, she won't do any jail time and will take 3 or 4 of her millions from her bottomless checking account and pay the family off as if it were another Yacht payment....

No, just because she is celebrity doesn't mean they should go down hard on here. It was a accident and it could happen to anybody. Im sure if you were in her shoes you wouldn't want to be sued.

If the investigation shows that she was at fault, she will and should have to face the consequences. I feel so bad for the children and family of the woman who died. Very Sad.
