Friend,in some of laptops or desktops the cardreader(Writer) is allready present means built in...
If u have a mobile device or other device which have external memory card's,the memory card put in that cardreader(writer)
in which we save the Audio/Video songs,photos etc. through ur lap/pc..
also u buy USB cardreaders(writers) in market seperately...

I dont know any computer with built in multi card reader. All card readers would have USB connectivity and are small in size, so can easily be taken along in laptop bag.
