In the first place, I don't think that we really REMEMBER what it was like before we were born. That said, what would be the purpose of the journey of life if we were no different AFTER the journey than we were before it? They say that you "can't take it with you" and that may be true of the physical possessions that we have in life. But, I think that there ARE things that you CAN take with you...everything that you have gathered in your heart, and everything that you gathered in your mind. What we ARE is our gift FROM God, what we BECOME is OUR gift to God. This is just my belief, but I think that there was consciousness in the presence of the source of creation before we were born and there will be consciousness of some sort after we die. I think that it will be beyond anything that we can imagine on this plane of reality where we now exist. Try to just be still and know.

There are as many views on this as there are people in the world.
Each person comes to their own conclusions. Psychics, seers, religious leaders and learned people down through the eons have striven to answer this. All I can say is that I believe in life after death or some sort of consciousness, perhaps in another dimension. What we do there, I don't know. If one is to believe what the psychics and seers of various times have stated then when we are between lives we evaluate the life we just left and figure out if we gained or lost understanding, and what we must focus on next time around. There is much more we supposedly do while we are there, too. Space prohibits elaboration. All I can say is one should study for themselves, and come to their own conclusions.
I, personally, do not believe an all loving Creator would condemn us to burn for eternity because we swore too much, sassed our parents and stole some candy when we were 5.

I will give you a test which will answer your question.
Please think, and answer honestly.

Do you think you are a good person?

Have you ever told a lie?
If you have that makes you a liar.

Have you ever stolen anything, no matter what the value?
If you have that makes you a thief.

Have you ever used Gods name in vain?
Have you substituted the name of your creator the one who gave you life for a four letter filth word?
If you have that is called blasphemy.

Have you ever looked at another person with lust?
Jesus said one who looks upon anothe with lust commits adultery with them in their heart.

Steve, if you answered yes to the above you are by your own admission a lying, thieving, blaspheming, adulterer at heart, and this is only 5 of the commandments.

If God was to judge you by the 10 commandments, would you be innocent or guilty?

What would be your destiny, would you go to heaven or hell?

Does this destiny concern you? It should.

God made away for you to escape his judgement. John 3:16
But you must do as Jesus instructed Luke 13:3, Acts 3:19, 1 John 1:8,9, 1 Cor 6:9,10 and finally Rom 10:9,10

Steve follow the Master, in all things, and you will not have to wonder what happens after death, as you name will be written in the book of life.

Will "it" be the same? What is "it"? The world? Your experiences? Time? Consciousness? Natural laws? Evolution? Thought?

Obviously, the answer changes depending on what "it" is.

How about this? Light that passes through a prism will slow down in the glass, but will instantaneously resume its constant speed as it escapes. Do we also "slow down" as we pass through this life and resume another speed or eternity when we escape/depart this life?

Do you mean will the world be the same, or will my experience of the world be the same..?

Vladamir Nabokov pointed out that, "The cradle rocks above an abyss, and common sense tells us that our existence is but a brief crack of light between two eternities of darkness."

Yes. You were nothing but a thought before you were born, you will be nothing but a thought after you die.

The greater your achievements in life, the greater the thoughts about you will after death.

Work hard for good thoughts!

There will be a void of nothingness, just like before you were born with no recollection of anything.
You cease to exist like you didn't exist before you were born.

It sounds rather peaceful.

Perhaps your consciousness will remain with those who loved you.
