Eddie Barzoon was managing partner at the law firm, he felt like Kevin was getting too much attention and too many perks being new to the firm. He threatened to go to the federal prosecutor looking into some cases John Milton's firm handled. The fed was the guy that hit by the car outside Eddie Barzoon's funeral.

Milton was killing anyone trying to get between him and Kevin. With Kevin being his son, he wanted him to reign with him and rule the business.
