I'm burning a dvd and i had just burned it earlier but then it suddenly stopped and said there wasn't enough space, so i'm trying to do it again, thinking that maybe it needs to be shrunk. The disc says it holds 4.7GB and when i put the disc in and got it ready to burn on Nero, it said it was using 4.37 our of 4.38, so i'm wondering if this is too big or what. My disc does say it only holds 4.7 GB. Can someone just tell me what the problem is?

You need to get a bigger disk... Or maybe in the options somewhere you can exclude the menu and only burn the actual movie...

sounds like your burning a disc image...if so then make sure you burn it with a disk image burner downloaded free from the internet, or comes standard with windows media center edition...if your using a DVD -R then i am sure you have enough space, and hopefully you have a dvd burner... so if neither of those are an issue, then check your burning speed, set it as low as possible because it will get an error VERY easily and will either install incorrectly or wont even read it correctly to where it wont install at all.. so try to get it burning at the slowest rate availabe! disk images are bad about that... IF its not a Disk image then check the proformance of your burner, it might need replaced

While the DVD disc is 4.7GB, there's overhead size that's used when formatting is required to make the DVD disc readable in whatever format it's designated for.

4.38GB is the 'net' storage size after it's formatted for writing.
