so i was at hollister the other day and i was looking at their sale stuff and they had bathing suits from last season for only $5! but they only had the bottoms.. i couldnt pass up a $5 bathing suit so i just bought the bottom which is brown with white and teal blue on it and it has thick ties on the sides.
i then went to old navy thinking they'd have a plain white top but they only had string bikini tops in white and i thought that would look weird.. DO YOU THINK A STRING TOP AND BOTTOM WITH THICK TIES WOULD LOOK WEIRD?

i think if you get a top that has similar colors would be fine. thin ties with thick ties may look a little off really its what you like. and the bandeau top stays on fine if you have a smaller cup size. maybe a small c and down but you still amy want to be careful when jumping in the water. my friend had a top like that and she was an A cup but she jumped into a wave at the beach when we went to florida and it slid down. just something to think about good luck.

Seriously, as long as the colors and/or patterns match it will be fine. Unless, the two pieces are made out of totally different fabrics. I have trouble with mix-n-match suits also. But, I realized when you get to the beach/pool no one notices but you!
Also, I love when people mix teal, brown, and white. Those colors look great together!

I personally think that the top and bottoms wouldnt match... but that's just me. I think the bandeau top would probably look pretty cute, but they are tricky to keep up, (and so easy for other ppl to pull down if they wanted to play a prank on you)

the top from victoria secrets would look the best....i did the same thing last summer and screwed up and bought the string bikini top oops.....then i got the other one from sears and thought the same thing you did ...about if it would stay up and it did i still have the bathing suit my sister thought i bought it like that
