What type of degree do you need? Can you have a Bachelor's degree in Managrment and a teaching license? What about my internship, how does that work? What school do you work for?

Yes, you can get a lot of information from the Indiana DOE website, but you can get better information if you contact the nearest state university.

When I first moved to IN I tried to find out what I needed to do to transfer my license and contacted the DOE. They told me I would need to take 18 credit hours to transfer my license. I could get an emergency certificate, but still needed to take the classes.

I contacted Ball State Teacher Certification and was able to get a teaching certificate without taking any classes. The people in charge of teacher-licensing know a lot more about the classes which can be counted toward a certificate than the people at the DOE.

The funny thing is I had two current licenses - one from Illinois and one from Alabama - and should have been issued an Indiana certificate on the basis of those alone. Don't trust the information from the DOE!!! Get a second opinion.

Go to http://www.doe.state.in.us/dps/licensing/welcome.html for information on how to become a licensed teacher in Indiana.

Good Luck!!!
