If you want to know your own IP address, open the command prompt (start - programs - accessories - command prompt) and type
ipconfig
If you want to know the IP address of a computer on the internet, type
nslookup
e.g.
nslookup yahoo.com
gives me 66.94.234.13 and 216.109.112.135
The reverse lookup also works:
nslookup 216.109.112.135
gives me w2.rc.vip.dcn.yahoo.com
