Like he hasn't had enough chances to have a plan to succeed already??

No - I think that a plan to start withdrawling should be looked at. Not cut and run, but something more like have the Iraqi people take the reigns of their government and security. I think that as long as we are there - no matter how many soldiers are there - there will be insurgents going after us. We are only agitating them, not frightening them.

The politicians should have let the military run things in the first place - then it would have been done right. The last time the politicians tried to run a war, we had our @$$es handed to us, too. It was Vietnam.

No, no, NO! There is a hidden agenda here and young American men and women are being sacrificed. U.S. has a tough time learning that no one changes her/is mind under duress. Iraq is far away. Iraqis have never asked for U.S. intervention. They seem to be doing their best to demonstrate their wish to expel U.S. military.

America has no business there or, frankly, anywhere in the international politicial arena - at least until it grows some guts and submits to the International Court of Law. I'd like to see Henry Kissinger tried as a war criminal there for starters.

Hell, the world can't even get America to honor its trade obligations in any of the agmts it has worked so hard to exact in nearly every corner of the world. (Visit the WTO discussion forum and chat to see what a hard time Antigua is having over Internet gambling despite two successful rulings at that tribunal, a tribunal the U.S. continues to promote aggressively: http://www.wto.org/english/forums_e/chat_e/chat_e.htm)

Why would America or Iraq trust a bunch of uneducated U.S. soldiers to mete out their notion of justice in a troubled, complex, proud and ancient foreign land?

If there is a civil war brewing in Iraq, this is a matter of Iraqi concern. Wait for clear instructions from an Iraqi govt put in place by Iraqis - not ugly Americans.

No. Why? Because the generals are against it, the Iraq Study Group had a much better plan but was ignored by Bush, and mostly because the people are against it.

Yes, of course, a lot more troops should shorten the course of the war and result in less casualities because they will have more people to watch their backs. They should have gone in with a lot more to begin with.
The president does not have to ask congress about tactics, he is the commander in chief of the forces and can change tactics if needed without congress's say so.

His "new" plan is the same as the old: and it has not worked yet. What's the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing and expecting a different result.

No more chances: his administration has had 6 years worth of chances--and where is Osama bin Laden by the way?

The only reason why congress is going to allow this if for political reasons. There is no credible military person that will say this will make a difference.
The only chance is to get a negotiated peace.

Yes but the demos are afraid that it might succeed so they are between a rock and a hard place. They are also afraid that if we leave and there is a blood bath they will be proved wrong and held responsible for not giving it one last chance. They must also pretend to be trying to bring the troops home because they don't want Cindy Sheehan and Jane Fonda protesting them.

Yes, my brother's friend has not seen his family for two years now. And everday his mom thinks its his last, she is in depression, and cant sleep without meds. She cries constantly, sure he is already dead. He just turned 21, sad isnt it... But hey I am sure more mothers are willing to give up their kids, because Bush has an idea, AND IT JUST MAY WORK.....or not. What do they care, they dont drive around with fear they will die. And they surely can afford it, we have funds up to our necks, our budget is enough to take over the world.... NOT.

More than a chance, they must, use history, if the liberal press of today got their way, then we would be all what Hitlel wanted. To many many died to stop that. The difference is liberal press.
