People's belief in ghosts is mostly a way of dealing with the unthinkable concept of our own mortality. Death is an easier concept to deal with if we think that we can survive it. That said, I am open to the possibility that ghosts exist.
It depends on how conciousness is created in a living person. If there is an immortal soul, than yes obviously that survives after death. If conciousness is simply a chemical process of the brain, then it has to fade with death, or at least over a period of time following death.
I don't find either of those concepts satisfactory. I see conciousness as a kind of emenation from the brain, that exists in another dimension to the physical. Even with the brain gone, there is no reason why that emanation shouldn't continue in some form, the same as we can see the lights from stars that no longer exist, or hear the echo of music after an orchestra's stopped playing.
What would survive is not the person per se but rather fragments of self, a resonance of their thoughts, memories and feelings. In time, that too has to fade, as eventually a dead star will fade from all skies, but who can say how long that is?
Whether something does survive or not, I can't see how ghosts could be a physical, rather than a mental, phenomenon. Survival after death - possible. Noises in the night - probably just the house settling or something equally mundane.

Yes Ghosts are disembodied souls. If someone takes their own life or dies abruptly or is murdered, they most always become a ghost. If ones body is not cremated their is a good chance of remaining a ghost. We are not these bodies, IE, race, nationality, mind, intellect, job, etc. We are eternal spirit souls, part and parcel of the Supreme Soul. At the time of death one leaves their material body and takes with them their subtle body (false ego, mind, intelligence) What ever ones consciousness is at the time of death they are sure to attain in their next life. So we as human beings should use our higher intelligence to attain our real constitutional position and return to the supreme spiritual eternal world where their is no more misery or birth, death, old age or disease. go to harekrishnatemple.c for detail and read Bhagavad Gita As it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada- tells all about these topics. ant our purpose in life.

i've had experiences with ghosts: or supernatural beings however u want to put it. Either way i believe that they exist. but u have to b careful. not everything can b put off as a ghost. noises can b debunked as being natural noises in ur house or where ever. reflections can seem to b ghosts... also b careful w/ videos and pics of ghosts cuz those "orbs" mayb dust, bugs, or hair. i'm not saying that everything can b passed off or debunked. not everything has an answer but don't b quick to say something is haunted or its a ghost.

After your physique dies, the place does it circulate? I see myself as a soul interior a vessel it is my physique. as quickly as my physique dies, my soul lives on as that's eternal. So definite, i've got self belief in ghosts.

Has to be something else. Ghosts are of dead people and the Bible clearly states that the dead CANNOT COMMUNICATE with the living.
