I am having trouble accessing a (.edu) site. I am trying to do some school work and I know the link works because all the other students use it. I've checked the link and every time I try to access it, I get a "you might be behind a firewall" message or "it's taking too long to answer and it times out". Can anybody tell me how to fix a firewall problem or if that's even the problem? What would cause a site not to display? I've tried to get help from our IT department, and have also called my own ISP but doesn't look like anyone has the smarts to tell me what it is.....Gosh people...can anybody help me? Have an awesome day ya'll!

Turn off the windows firewall, and other firewall you might have installed.. Then try to connect.. IF it lets you then one of the firewalls needs to have the site addeed to the allow list..

If not then check your tools internet options security, and see if its in the blocked site list..

Before messing with the Firewall(s) and risking an infection, try these first:

Go to Tools>Internet Options>Security Tab>set the Security Settings to the Defaut settings by clicking the Default button.

Go to the General tab>click on the Delete Cookies, Temp Files and Clear History buttons.

If using IE7: in the General tab>go to Browsing History and click Delete>in this window delete the items listed above.

See if this allows you access to the site.

what operating system are you using, and what security system are you using, windows has a built in firewall Norton has the ability to allow individual isp's into your account but you have to know what you have in order to tell you how to get around the problem.
