It depends when you took a blood test I would think. I think it is more accurate in detecting the hormone, but wouldn't think if you are pregnant and took it to soon it would matter. Genrerally they are very accurate.

I've seen a few questions like this before. I won't say blood tests are wrong per se, but it just might be too early to detect the pregnancy hormone in your blood. I was CONVINCED I was pregnant since I just felt goofy and not like myself, and I went in to get a blood test, which was negative. Perplexed, I decided to stock up on first response pee tests and WAIT that horrible 2 week wait until my expected period. One evening a week and a half later (7 days after my period should have come) I got a positive pee test, then I went back to the dr. and got a positive blood test. So just try to be patient if you can.....you'll get accurate results soon enough!

I had a blood attempt that got here lower back 2.a million-below 5 is a unfavorable result. such as you I had a number of advantageous urine assessments at homestead and the standard practitioner. My OB repeated the attempt, she mentioned the two I wasn't pregnant and the urine assessments have been all defective, they had caught the being pregnant very early and it may double to 4.2 and that they had save observing it, or the lab flubbed. i grew to become into quite particular I knew what i grew to become into doing because of the fact that's my 2d infant. anyhow the repeat attempt 2 days later confirmed an hcg point of 350, what you will anticipate for 4 weeks pregnant. The nurse practitioner on the prevalent standard practitioner's place of work mentioned it would desire to have only spiked yet my OB says there had to be lab blunders on the 1st attempt. i'm now 21 weeks, I even have had 2 united statesand heard the pulse many cases, Thank God this infant is doing nicely so some distance and that i pray it keeps. To make a protracted tale short, there could be blunders, get a 2d blood attempt. stable success.

As a general rule, blood tests for pregnancy are more reliable than urine or home pregnancy tests. But they can be wrong. That means, they can show false negative or false positive results in some women.

Blood tests can detect a pregnancy earlier than a home pregnancy test (about 7-12 days from possible conception) and can also measure the concentration of hCG hormone in your blood (this is useful information for your healthcare provider in tracking certain problems in pregnancy). If you suspect any symptoms of pregnancy like delayed menstrual period, breast tenderness, pelvic pain, irregular spotting or vomiting. You must get a pregnancy blood test done to confirm or rule out pregnancy.

Wrong results with blood pregnancy tests
The test may fail to detect human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) even when a woman is pregnant if the test is done too early. It takes at least 7 days after fertilization for the test to become positive. In most cases, by the time a woman has missed her period, the test will be positive if she is pregnant.

Greater than normal levels of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) may indicate:

* a tumor of the placenta with death of the fetus
* multiple pregnancy, such as twins or triplets
* ovarian cancer and other types of cancer in some cases
* a normal pregnancy
* blood or protein in the urine, which can interfere with the result
* use of medications to prevent seizures, drugs to treat Parkinson's syndrome, or phenothiazine drugs, such as chlorpromazine, by the mother

Lower-than-normal human chorionic gonadotropin (hCG) levels may indicate:

* ectopic pregnancy
* a miscarriage, or abortion.

The only way for a blood test to be incorrect is if you took it too soon or due to lab error, which is very rare. Blood tests are the most accurate, if taken at least 7 days after conception.

Yes, although it is highly unlikely, but i do know one girl who took 5 pregnancy tests, 2 at the hospital, and a blood test and they all came back positive, but when she went in for the ultra sound, guess what... Nope no baby!

I imagine you did a urine test before the blood test and that came out positive. Those are 99.5% accurate if done at least 2 wks after conception. The blood test (B-Hcg) is 99.99% acurate. For both to be wrong, statistically, would be like one in a million.

Well it is accurate BUT labs do make mistakes, and it is only accurate after the egg has implanted.
