Can you give me an example of a molecule made up of the same element, and a molecule made up of two different elements?

Some elements always occur in pairs in their elemental form: oxygen, hydrogen, all of the halogens. So the molecules would be O2, H2, Cl2.

For compounds made of two different elements there are lots of options: H2O, NaCl, HCl, etc.

One example of a single element molecule is O2 which is present in our air. Of course it has 2 oxygen atoms making up one molecule.

An easy example of a molecule with 2 different elements is water or H2O which has two hydrogen atoms and one oxygen atom.
