They think because you have got a boat you must have plenty money. Honestly that is the only reason.

Better buy all the bits from towsure and make your own. Save a fortune.

Or buy second hand. But if a second hand trailer is not galvanised, don't touch it with a barge pole.

Those of us around the lake have the ability to get things like that for free. Problem is they usually come with a boat. We take the boat and trailer to the dump, push the boat off, then we have a free trailer. Actually, they usually charge $15 to dump the boat so its not exactly free. Try Craigslist, or ...

Have you ever noticed license plates on boat trailers? If trailers are subject to state licensing, then they must be subject to other regulations (safety, etc.). Complying with government regulations increases the costs of everything.

And of course you want competent engineering involved in the design. Otherwise, you'd just go down to the junkyard and ask uncle Skeeter to throw something together for 50 bucks (and by "junkyard" I meant his backyard).

Good trailers are made of steel, which is really expensive. So are a good set of wheels.

Just remember, trailers are like cars in that you get what you pay for.

simply knock one up yourself using an arc welder and an old caravan chassis.
