I have a 2 yr old and I am 8.5 mo preg. I started telling her right away. We play games with my growing belly... (tickle the baby by poking my belly button), shh baby is sleeping, putting something on my belly and letting her watch the baby kick it off. I think if she is familiar with the idea a baby is coming, then maybe it wont be such a shock!

I have a niece that comes over daily. I started telling her about the baby when my tummy began to stick out, which was about the 4th month. I also had to warn her not to jump on my stomach and explain that I could no longer give her piggie back rides. She enjoys the baby and loves to kiss my tummy. She even whispers little secrets to him, but I don't think she fully realizes that a baby will emerge. I've shown her my ultrasound pictures and plan on letting her help me with the nursery. She's having lots of fun with the baby already!

well, i have a four year old and have decided to not tell her till i start showing and closer to delivery. we do read books about being a big sister and she is learning all kinds of stuff about babies, she is being prepared. We dont want her to worry about the baby, keep asking when the baby is coming out or get hurt if something happens to the baby...GOOD LUCK!!

My son will be four in March. I told him when i hit three months and i could not have imagined how excited he was going to be. Everywhere we go he says "Can we get this my brother or sister will love it?" and the babys room is empty right now and he sits in there looking at the walls and asking when the baby will get here. Its the cutest thing. Tell them whenever you feel comfortable and are ready to talk about it ALOT. :)

Just ask them what they think about Mommy having a baby and age their reactions and then tell them at about 12 weeks when you are past the danger of miscarriage

TELL YOUR KIDS THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE THEIR RESPONSIBILITIES TRIPLE AFTER THE BIRTH AND THAT THEY MUST POLISH UP THEIR OWN ACTS SO THE BABY WILL HAVE GOOD EXAMPLES TO GO BY. TELL THEM NOW ABOUT THE NEW SISTER OR BROTHER AND LET THEM LISTEN TO THE NEW BABY WITH A SCOPE YOU CAN GET AT A HEALTH SHOP.

If it were me I would tell them when i start to show. So they can actually see a change in your belly and be assured that there is really a little baby in there.

we told our 4 year old (my stepson) right away. I'm not sure he understands yet but its all he talks about. at first he kept saying "baby sister", then started saying "babies" (he thinks there are 2 but maybe 3. I hope he's not right about there being 2!) and now he says "his baby" lol its so adorable...

The oldest is four. If you tell him, now he will expect the baby now. Dont tell him until he asks,or you are about to go to the hospital.
