lol i already know that Gaara cant sleep i've been reding the manga.. i just thought it would be an interesting question to ask...

Well dear, I hate to break it to you but...
Gaara doesn't sleep. Though it has nothing to do with the "giant peanut" on his back. Gaara had a demon sealed inside his body when he was born. Unfortunately, the woman who sealed this creature inside of him wasn't as skilled as the Fourth Hokage and a side affect was left...
Should Gaara go to sleep, Shukaku comes out and kills anything or anyone in his path. The only way to prevent the destruction of large amounts of... anything is to keep Gaara awake.
Thus, Gaara *doesn't* sleep.

Gaara actually does sleep in short bits... if he sleeps longer his "personality will be eaten". He just sorta dozes while sitting or standing, and he does take the gourd off occasionally. Hn... Maybe he uses it as a pillow? Or maybe he could use the sand to stuff himself inside it and get some real sleep.
I wonder if he sleeps after Shukaku is extracted... my guess is no since insomnia is a tough condition to break on your own, and he's not about to get any help. I guess I should read more, but he hasn't really been involved enough in the more recent books for me to get a clear idea.

He actually can't sleep.. Just like what the other person said,he has a dem** inside him.... and if he at least lays down.... Why does he have to lay down with the "giant peanut" on his back?,it's not like it's going to save him or something.. Because he has to open it first...

i already know it was a joke but, the demon sealed inside him would break out if he went to sleep. So i guess he's had to practice and be alone all the time growing up. It stinks for him, and I feel sorry for him. But now he's a killing machine.

the shakaku makes it so he cant sleep because if he goes to sleep the demon would take over his body
the only time he ever goes to sleep is when he wants to use the shakaku, and even then he has to use a jutsu called the "force sleep jutsu"
you'll get to see this in the next month or so of naruto

lol so ur a Naruto fan too that's awesome but he doesn't really sleep hence the dark circles around his eyes lol it's NOT eyeliner for goodness's sakes it's insomnia but he would look good in eyeliner

He didnt sleep at all, ever since the demon was sealed inside his body, if he falls asleep, the demon will take over his body so he cant fall asleep at all.
