Actually, what you mean is a business letter of introduction. This is when you introduce yourself in the first paragraph citing your qualifications and work experience. In the second paragraph, you indicate that you are interested in the business of the company you are writing and inquire about opportunities with the firm. In your final paragraph, you thank the person for his or her consideration and state that you look forward to hearing from him or her. Always include a resume as well.
