I am 6 months pregnant with my first child and I was curious what color eyes she would have.

My Husband:
-My husband is full Swedish(He is from Sweden) and he has blonde hair and blue eyes, most of my husbands family has blue eyes

Me:
-I am half Swedish, a quarter African American, and a quarter Native American and I have dark brown eyes and so does everyone on my Dads side(Native American and African American), on my Moms side(Swedish) she has Brown eyes but most of my Moms side has Blue eyes

Thank You for your help :)

In Biology, brown eyes are dominate more so than anyother color, next comes blue eyes, since you have brown eyes chance are great that your baby will take after you!

This is what I was taught: All the rules of genetics kind of get tossed out the window with regard to eye color because that is a very complex genetic issue.

Here's what I can tell you:

Blue eyes are supposedly recessive, and brown dominant.

Both my parents had blue eyes. I am one of their two blue eyed children (out of four). The other two are hazel. If the trait is truly recessive we should all have been blue eyed.

So yes--the issue being more complex than simple genetics could seem to be true.

Hair color, as far as I know is unrelated to eye color. None of us are blonde.

Sounds like most likely blue because there is a lot of blue in the family but it could still be brown. My husband has dark hair and dark eyes, I have blueish green eyes and dark hair, our daughter has blue eyes blond hair. Congrats and good luck!!

Simple Punnets square.....husband side will only be able to donate the recesssive blue eye gene...You MAY be able to donate a recesssive blue eyed gene....but if all you have is the dominant Brown, your baby's ...and all subsequent children will have Brown eyes......If you do have a blue eye gene ...there is a 50%/50% shot that this baby will have blue eyes.....you cant tell what genes you have lurking in your DNA and you will have to wait...i think this website explains it more fully....congrats on the baby!

I've read that the gene for brown eyes is dominant over the gene for blue eyes, but from personal experience, I've seen that the odds are really 50/50. It could go either way.

Most likely, your baby will have brown eyes, although there is a very small chance, if you carry the blue-eyes gene from your mom, he or she will have blue eyes.

Congrats!

if you have blonde hair this will naturally get bleached by the particular sun in the summer. There has been this guy in my class who else had golden blonde hair that was a medium brown near the base. When he came back to school after summer vacation, it was practically platinum blonde!

Jet black hair. I have really dark brown hair and I believe dark hair looks better. I may really like blonde hair.

well i was a natural blonde with blue eyes, and my hubby has brown hair and brown eyes, my son was born with blue eyes and now he is 6 and they are brown, my daughter was born with dark gray eyes and now she;s 4 and she has blue eyes> so i don't think there is any way of really knowing.
