with my boyfriend on Valentine's Day. We are ordering Chinese food and will probably end up just snuggling on the sofa watching a movie after dinner...but the table will be set nicely and we will be using good plates and the correct silverware and all that. So should I just wear jeans and a pretty shirt? Or more dressy?

From a man's point of view, Scarlet and Sweetie_pie have the best answers out of the three that were there before I began answering your question. I think the nicely set table and good plates, silverware and glasses is a great idea. You don't have to wear anything too elegant or overly "Valentine-ish". Just something simple and with a sense of mature romance. Then when you move to the sofa and watching a movie, something more in the lines of what Sweetie_pie said, keeping the "lace cami and a deep v" will be a great "change of pace" and scenery, and truly set a more romantic tone. God Bless you.

Well first you MUST dress up. Nice jeans will just ruin the whole effect.

What to wear?

First thought is to go with an ao dai, one of those beautiful Vietnamese dresses http://www.vietvoice.net/aodai/ If you have a Vietnam Town or China town in the city where you live you can probably find one fairly inexpensively.

Second thought is something my wife once did. Before she met me she had a VERY rich boyfriend. Well one night he suprised her with news they were going out to a very expensive resturant, and she was still in broke student mode... she didn't have an out fit that cost as much as most of the entrees at this place! Well in desperation she turned to her scarf collection, (she had always had a large scarf collection) She grabbed about seven or eight scarves, some sheer, some not so sheer. Then she wore them, and nothing else. Tie one off here, tie one off there, make sure the knots are tight sort of a thing. Needless to say she had the attention of EVERY male in the place that night.

You have to be in pretty good shape to pull it off, but from what I hear the effect can be stunning.

Absolutely more dressy with the fabulous dinner! A little red spaghettie strap dress with low heeled strappy sandles, a little red lip gloss and big bold eye lashes!

I would wear casual pants with a lace cami and a deep v......However when you watch the movie change into some valentine lounge pants and snuggle up with him it wil lset a good valentines day theme.
