Randy Rhoads or Eddie Van Halen?

Both are amazing players but I'd have to agree with the first answerer, Eddie does slightly edge out Randy. It's a shame that Randy died though, but he left some amazing stuff.

This is not a fair question. Randy Rhoads died before he could fully become what he would have eventually became. He was classically trained and was leaning toward interweaving that classical training into a rock and roll format. He never got the chance, so we'll never know. Eddie, on the other hand, has had over 30 years to play around and experiment and create. So obviously he's had the better chance here. Imho :-) Now imagine had Randy not died, they may have gotten to work together and that would've been awesome!

Randy Rhoads, hands down. While Randy wasn't around as long as Eddie, I believe the music he played and the influence he had on other future guitar players was alot greater. While Eddie's playing was great, Randy's playing helped to revive the career of Ozzy.

man, thats so tough, dude. Randy wins, he never wussed out. I think if he had the chance, he'd have kept on rippin sweet metal till now. Eddie went a little fruity with some of that later sh*t. So Randy.
