Who was better in the 1972 Canada vs. USSR Summit Series, name the country and a player for that country.Canada won the series.

For the Soviets I would have to say foward Valery Kharlamov and goalie Vladislav Tretiak. For the Canadians you gotta go with Phil Esposito, even though Paul Henderson played great and scored the winner, Espo was the leader of that team. Just too add, Ken Dryden got his number retired two nights ago in Montreal and Tretiak was a guest speaker, he recieved a 3 minute standing O! Pretty awesome.

Paul Henderson - right wing, #19 - Canada - scored the winning goal with 34 seconds left in the game.

Although Tretiak is still considered one of the best goalies ever who never played in the NHL, he did go on to work as a goalie coach in the NHL, for the Chicago Blackhawks, and trained goalies such as Ed Belfour.

Henderson of course. I'm glad Canada won, but without a bit of nasty work by Clarke I think it might have worked out differently.
