First off, CowboyBill, the Police Interceptor Corwn Victoria's have most of the same components as a standard issue Civilian model. They have a bigger alternator, a transmission cooler, and various other little tweaks. A Police Interceptor will not outperform a normal version.

Back to the origional topic, the 89-97 Ford Thunderbird is a pretty 'sleeper-ish' car. Most of the drive train is the same as the Mustang (Engine, Transmission), they have a pretty good suspension system (Independent Rear), they're rear wheel drive, like a car is supposed to be.

The Chevy Caprice, in latter years, can be made to go pretty good. They do have the same engine as the Camaros and Corvettes.

Check out the new '07 Nissan Altima - smaller than the Maxima but the new V6 puts out (I think) 265 hp. And you can get a 6-speed manual, too.

Lincoln LS V8. 2006 is the last year they were made, but there are quite a few nice 2003-2006 around. 280 hp V8 with lots of torque and great handling.

Don't ask me why, but the 1972 Corvette seems to be undervalued. I think it may be because of the styling, which I find great looking. Below is a link to a page with a photo of one, with some info on it.
