Well, it's a combination of factors, not the least of which is lack of education. No, I'm not talking about diversity training or being all PC. It's more a sense of what those words mean, how they came into use and such. ****** is a dumbed down version of ***** which is latin for black. Coons I really don't know why, maybe because some of the earliest slaves had to eat varmits to survive? I dunno. Basically it is demoralizing and wrong. I don't like being called a Honky or Whitey or even pale face. Though it was charming when my hispanic laborers nicknamed me Gringo and Cowboy.
