I'd say atleast over 5 feet
if you're taller than that it's all about skill level, and you should be fine
work on speed/quickness and improving your overall game

Yes, Height matters to a certain extent. If you are playing basketball, no matter how much good you are at it, but first you have to get selected to play in a team. The basic thing which the selectors see is your height and your defence.
Since you are a girl, your height should be around 5.5 or 5.6 feet or more. For a guy it should be above 5.8 feet.
I could not play baket ball at my school only because my height was short.
I hope it helps.
Good Luck!!

While height helps, there is really no set height to play basketball.
Mugsey Bogues was only 5'4" tall and played in the NBA, where many players were more than 1' taller than he was.
Smaller players just need to be better ball handlers and more skilled at passing and shooting from outside. As many of us have lamented over the years in the NBA, the taller a player is, the less talented they need to be to be considered a hot prospect.

As far as ur playin locally height is not a concern but if u want to make it ur career then u will have to be quite tall ..
For boys they must be at least 6 feet but i dont know abt girls . but if ur young keep playin bball and u will grow tall but if ur 17 or18 above wear weights sold in sports shop while playing which might be use ful to increase ur height
best of luck!

Ofcourse, it helps if your 7 foot tall, to pull out all the dunkz. however there are numerous nba stars past & present that stand LESS than 6 ft tall and have had successful careers. It also depends on your game. If you have got true skills and talent you'll manage just fine the height you are. just don't expect to out jump shaq!!

One name..........Spud Webb nuff said. Check out his height and see how you think he was as an NBA player. Its not your height its your heart. Sure being tall is not to a disadvantage as a basketball player. Go with what you want to do. Without dreams what is life?

If you really want to play basketball professionally, then you should be around 5'7" to 6'6" depending on what position you're playing. If you want to be a guard, then I suggest under 6". If you want to be a forward then around 6"-6'3". Centres are 6'3" and higher.
