I took 3 semesters worth of game theory, it is not a simple thing to write about here. There is more than one type of game theory for two players. There are impartial games and partial games (depending on whether the players have the same moves or not). Most of the games I dealt with use pictures and things which are hard to explain here. My suggest is to check out a few books from the library. I think the title of the book our teacher used was Playfair's book (or maybe we used Playfair's axiom/theorem). A class in game theory is an excellent way to learn how to construct proofs and how to try to find your own theorems by exploration. I am not sure what equation you are looking for. We had many different types of formulas that we used. Have fun.

Raz is right, the theory cannot be broken down to one simple equation. So I will not try to give you a complete description here.

The idea, though, is to use mathematical methods to develop a theoretical framework for games of strategy, between two or more participants. Depending upon the problems you are trying to solve, game theory can be quite simple or very complicated.

This is a subject that dates back to the 1940's, and one which over the years attracted the attention of some of the most creative mathematicians of the twentieth century.

But far better, here is a great, readable book that will give you a very basic sense of what it is about. You will need to read more (and take courses) to actually learn game theory, but this is a fun way to start.
