My roommate is having friend trouble, one of his friends said she didn't really want to be friends with him anymore, she sort of called him stuck up and a show off. Now for the last 2 days this all I've been hearing.

I mean can't he just shut the f-up, who really cares about your prob, everyone has probs, your not the only one, so suck up. Thats what I feel like telling him.
Should I say that?

I could really care less about the whole issue, but i keep hearing about it like every 5mins when he's bitchin on the phone about it

So does not caring make me a cold person?

Cold is such a harsh word. I would think of it more like you are investing in your own emotional health and well being. Self preservation. I'm in a similar situation. I'm tired of him yacking about how his life has ended. How he doesn't know how to go on with his life. Well, buddy, buck up and face the world. There are a lot of other guys out there. I even offered to introduce him to another nice guy.
But, that's what I feel, for the most part. To him, I just listen. And avoid. Except that offer to meet my other friend. That I did. Not a good move. Don't try it.

You're not a cold person for not caring. But if you tell him to shut up, it does make you cold. Do what most people do and just let him cool off on his own. No hard feelings on either side.

No it doesn't. I mean everyone has their limits and to hear the same crap over and over would push anyone beyond that limit. I find that the ones that do the most complaining are the ones that never take the steps to fix their problems. If they did, they wouldn't have anything else to complain about and then their life would suck.

It might take him more than two days to get over getting his feelings hurt. It might be better if you told him politely that you were tired of hearing so much about it. You don't have to be mean.

i never mind listening to a friend because i always think some day that could be me needing a shoulder to lean on or a set of friendly ears to listen

no, it doesnt make you a cold person... like you said, everybody has their own problems, and you've got your own stuff to look afta... however, he is probably hurting, so dont yell at him or whatever, maybe just suggest he spends time with his other friends, or change the subject or walk away if he's talking to someone else

Not necessarily cold - just not into listening to stuff that doesn't matter.

Sure, tell someone what happened and get over it and stop crying about it already!

Maybe not telling him to shut the eff up, but saying "Enough already" and give a big huge Napolean Dynamite "GAWD"

No, it doesn't make you a cold person. I'm the same way...I am very intolerant of whining..I get sick of hearing it almost instantly.
