I feel like half the time I don't even know what I am saying. I am overwhelmed with parents, advocates, and lawyers, much less paperwork and NCLB!

I was beyond burnt out. I felt like I was going no where. After 8 1/2 years I decided to make a change! I went from teaching middle school (8th grade) special ed. to preschool special ed. It was a drastic change, but it's been very good for me. I think I just needed to try something new and different. This has gotten me out of the rut. It's brought me many new and unexpected challenges, but I think just the fact that they're new has made it less stressful.
I do feel for you and wish you luck. I think you will find that you are not alone! It's a hard job w/ little respect.

If you are burnt out then get out. You aren't doing the children any good. I have very hard days but I love my job. I love the satisfaction of knowing that I made a difference in a child's life. Anything the children do is an accomplishment.

A good friend of mine recently quit teaching. She had been a special ed teacher for several years but it finally just got to her. She's on with another career now and doing great. If you still love teaching, you might want to see what it would take to take on a regular class next year. Sometimes a small change of scenery makes a world of difference.

How scarey that must seem for the parents who will read this and have sp. ed students. Might have them lose confidence in thier childs teacher. Hope you guys get the help the you need or take time off from it.

I had LD,all I can say is there are no easy answers.
Everything is easier said than done.I myself have been trying to learn more on LD kids and I am getting burned
out on it.
Just meaning well is not going to do it.
