It always rebounds. Over the long term the market always performs well. Short term views have problems more often than long-term diversified views.

The easy answer to this question is that those investors who are willing to get involved conservatively for the long term will almost always win. That's the easy answer.

The hard answer is that the success in the market today is all about knowing what's at the top of the most people's list at any given moment.

You definitely want to be different. This is your time to shine, so say something that will blow your interviewer away, something that will make him think "I never thought about it that way before!"

For example: tell him "My perspective is that the market doesn't matter as much as most people would think. We as a business need to work to untie ourselves from the market and pave our own way!"

Good luck!

I would cringe at the word "market" and go on to tell this person how that is a gross abstraction which means nothing, in any managable or intelligent way.

The market they sell their product in ?
Your question has insufficient info,
I hope you were more thorough in your interview.
