What is the proportion of African-Americans who have some European blood?

In the US, African-Americans are usually lumped together as "black", regardless of whether they do look African or not. Thus, people with light skin like Vanessa Williams, Halle Berry or Lisa Bonet are considered black. However, in Latin America and the Caribbean, there is a gradation of black into either pure or mulatto.

There's no way of knowing this.
Back during slavary times, masters often raped their female slaves.
There have also been some voluntary unions.
I read an estimate that the US African American population has about 25% European ancestry, on the average, this based on phenotypes. Recently genetic tests are availble to people who are curious about their ancestry, but these tests are very expensive (around $200 US) and not widely avalible. They can test only individuals, not entire populations.
At any rate, there's no way of knowing for sure, especially since all blood is red.

If you check history, you will note that in the USA. There were laws made to keep the illegitimate children the white master sired, when they raped the black slaves from having freedom. This law stated that if you had 1/32 amt of black blood you were then deemed black and carry the same condition as your black slave mother. which meant that you were also a slave and would be treated as such. these laws were enacted by the USA, so that children of slaves that were offspring of the slave master could not indeed inherit rights, property and such. In the other where they say mulatto and such these offspring of the same condition, had some rights granted to them, plus they were not governed under USA laws. I would suggest that every natural born black that is a descendant of african slaves are indeed mixed with euro.

That's a very hard question to answer. I don't think everyone knows exactly where their family came from. I know that I have some family that come from European, Portugal in particular.
