85 Bears hands down. Look up who the Dolphins played that year and their records. Schuduling fluke. They played 2 teams with winning records-both had the awesome 8-6 record. Here is the records of the teams they played that year:
*8-6-Kansas City Chiefs
*1-13-Houston Oilers
*7-7Minnesota Vikings
*7-7-NY Jets
*4-9-1-San Diego Chargers
*4-9-1-Buffalo Bills
*5-9-Baltimore Colts(Yes Indy you stole this team)
*4-9-1-Buffalo Bills
*3-11-New England Patriots
*7-7-NY Jets
*4-9-1-St Louis Cardinals
*3-11-New England Patriots
*8-6-New York Giants
*5-9-Baltimore Colts(I hate the Indianapolist Colts!)
Wow. Maybe the weakest NFL schedule of all time. Fluke.
Look it up!
**For d b : They had those 1000 yard rushers due to their week schedule. They were number 1 in offense and defense due to their week schedule. They were underdogs to the Steelers and Redskins due to their week schedule-no one believed in them.
If they had played say 2 11-3 teams they would not have gone undefeated.
**The Bears won 18 games-the Dolphins 17.
**The Bears played and beat during the regular season the 11-5 Patriots, the 10-6 Redskins, the 10-6 49's, the 106 Cowboys, and the 11-5 Jets.
**The Bears beat the previous years Super Bowl champ (49's) during the regular season and beat the next years Super Bowl champ(Giants) during the playoffs.

First off, for the guy that mentioned "possibly the weakest schedule ever" - go look up the 1999 Rams. BTW- the teams they beat in the post season were 10-4, 11-3, 11-3.
The 1972 Miami Dolphins led the league in scoring that season
They gave up the fewest points in the NFL that season.
In addition to being the ONLY team to ever go undefeated, they are also one of only two teams that ever accomplished this feat.
They played the last 9 games of the regular season, and the first game and a half of the playoffs with a BACK UP QB starting.
They had 2 1000 yard rushers in a 14 game season - one of only two teams to ever accomplish this in 14 games. (They also had a third guy over 500 yards)
They had to play the AFC Championship game on the road in Pittsburgh, despite being 15-0 at the time.
They advanced to the Super Bowl with a 16-0 record, and were still the underdogs to the Redskins
If not for the ill-fated "pass" by Garo Yepremian, they would have been the only team to ever post a shut out in the Super Bowl. That infamous play occurred with barely 2 minutes to go in the game, and resulted in the Redskins only points.
The 1985 Bears were not even good enough to beat the 1985 Dolphins. The 1972 Dolphins were much better than the 1985 Dolphins.

Since they are from 2 eras. It is just speculation. But the Pat's that year played in AFC championship and they were Lucky to beat the Fins. I think if Fins had met that year in the Bowl instaed of Pats' Marino and O woulda got the better of the Bears again.
As to the 72 fins they were part of a team of an era that went to 3 super bowls in a row and won 2! Did the bears go again after that year? I think The Giants of the era with LT and Simms woulda beat The Bears. As well as most of the 49er teams of that era. You cant compare teams from different eras as style and players and schemes are not the same. Also During the mid 70's the WFL came and took a few Fins players. So the Fins still were good but not the same. As for coaching I will leave Shula's record to speak for itself. That game in the OB was pure coaching and Buddy Ryan and Ditka were outclassed. I always will wish that they had remet in bowl but wasnt ment to be.

Yahoo sports just ran an article about the best SB teams of all time. The Steelers actually won the voting, but I'd have to go with da Bears. Nobody has ever played such dominant football. They had the strength, size, and speed to physically demolish the opposition. The Dolphins probably played trickier, riskier, and maybe even smarter than the Bears, but it wouldn't matter once they were all bruised up.

The Bears had the D, but I gotta go with the '72 Dolphins. THEY had the undefeated season. I'm sure that the Bears would've overlooked them, considering that they didn't have many players and the Bears were kinda cocky, so I would say Dolphins 24-Bears 21

85 Bears. One loss that season, against a streaking Dan Marino and the Dolphins on Monday night. Totally dominant defense, great running game, and more charisma in their QB than in the entire 72 dolphin team. Dolphins were good, but squeaked by a half-dozen games that year.

72 Dolphins because reguardless of the schedule they still ran the table which is very difficult in any era. Lets not foreget they had to win all their play off games and defeated a vert good Washington team to win the Super Bowl.
Plus they had a very good defense as well!!

Gauruntee the 85 Bears are the GREATEST team to ever play and be put together..... one the Miami Dolphins didn;t even play as many games as the 85 Bears. Defense was dominating and probably the best to be put together and then there was WALTER PEYTON who has an arguement for the best RB of all time. Not to mention the cocciness of McMahon.

The bears have been extra advantageous by using fact the evaluate time they performed, there have been a ways extra advantageous athletes than in 1972. purely like if the eighty 5 bears performed a trendy team of this era, they could get their butts whipped.
