We had workshops when I acted at a renaissance fair and I sometimes went around there barefoot, even though that too was before my regular barefooting time. It was just relaxed and informal there, it was comfortable without shoes. I can't remember if my feet got dirty, didn't then and still don't pay particular attention to that.
