Fleas got into our house from our dogs sitting and scratching outside our glass doors and due to allergies we couldn't use flea spray, etc. inside. Our neighbor advised us to sprinkle borax around lightly inside, and vacuum often even down in the chair and sofa cushions. We used a jar with a lid punched full of holes to sprinkle with. We did that for awhile and were free of fleas! We kept some borax on sidewalks and front porch as well as around the wall area in the family room and had no further problems.

Later that summer we took our dogs to the vet for shots and he said he didn't see any fleas on them and asked what we used on them. We said nothing ON our dogs, but borax sprinkled around, but NOT inside, their houses. He was impressed because he said most dogs that he'd been seeing were covered in fleas that summer even with sprays, etc.
I don't advise putting any borax on a pet. I don't know if it could harm them or not, but it worked just fine the way we did it.

I use advantage or frontline, I used to have a huge flea problem.
I even had Terminix contracted for a year and it was no good.

Spray your house with Bengal if you don't want to go with a professional It kills fleas and larvae too, it is the best., you all have to leave for a few hours and air out the house completely before you return.
Don't get the bio spot drops or the ones from Hartz, they won't work if you have an infestation.
Get the advatage or Frontline, it will be expensive at first ( about $50) but you will be amazed at the results

We had this problem that summer when it was really wet outside. Frontline is the only thing that seemed to work for us. We had to treat both our cats and the dog for 2 months until the fleas were all gone. Our white cat is allergic to Advantage - no clue why.

on the dog, try diluting tea tree oil and using a plastic nit comb. if you have fleas in your house too, it took me weeks of bombing the house and spraying the lawns to get rid of them
